So, some of you have probably been cruising around with search.cyberwa.re the past few months. That was my little SearXNG setup—a nifty tool that lets you surf the web in your invisibility cloak. No personalized ads stalking you, no creepy data collection—it’s like being a ghost in the machine.
But hey, out with the old, in with the new! I’ve ditched the old instance and spun up a new one at https://monowi.re. Why? Because I had the domain lying around and, let’s face it, the name just screams, “Let’s do something cool and cybery!”
This new monowire joint is beefier, with more horsepower under the hood and a bunch of proxies working in the shadows.
Faster searches and less of the annoying “Oops, something broke.”
Oh, and here’s the kicker — I’m tinkering away on a new plugin for SearXNG, or better yet, monowire. This baby is designed to weed out all the AI-generated slop that clogs up your search results. Because who needs more noise when we’re all just trying to hack the planet, right?
Using this at work, (reference librarian) would be interesting.
I’ve been using Startpage there as I feel people are looking for goog answers more than bong ones via DDG.
Oh, yeah - I forgot to mention that bit. Likely what happened was that the URL somehow got escaped or interpreted as being such, as %25 is the escape code for whitespace. It’s possible that maybe you actually fat-fingered a space between the % and s when you were entering the URL or whatnot. Happens to me all the time.
But glad that it’s working! Yay! Monowi.re for everyone on every device!
