Koenigsegg's New "Dark Matter" Motor, Makes Elon Cry?

If this electric motor works as this video says it does, could this really be the end of Tesla? I can’t imagine that these “Dark Matter” engines can be produced quickly or cheaply (and I sure don’t see anyone rushing out to buy a Koenigsegg any time soon because nobody has the money for them), but I’m sure that now that it’s been shown that it can be done, some auto manufacturer (probably VW or Porsche, in my guess) is likely to try mass-producing this thing.

I can’t tell what’s hyperbole and what’s not in this video, but the engine design and specs are totally amazing, and I would absolutely love to drive whatever Koenigsegg is building that will be the first receiver of this tech.

If they can get the cost of production down, this really could change the world of electric vehicles. But this could also be all hype, smoke, and mirrors for all I know.

Judge for yourself. Personally, I’m all for hybrid power plants for vehicles.

Okay, yeah - the video title is pretty much clickbait. But the tech underneath is still super interesting and could be quite a big headache for Tesla if some other car company decides to invest in it and go the carbon-fiber route.

“dark matter” is such a silly name though, it’s completely not related to dark matter :p

yeah, it is pretty stupid. It’s honestly something that I would expect to come from a moron like Musk instead of a more (seemingly) intelligent person like Kristian Koenigsegg. It’s all just nerdy hyperbole to make the innovation sound super cool. I mean, the unit is kinda dark since it’s unpainted carbon fiber.

I just want to see someone make the investment enough to commoditize this tech so that it becomes the dominant philosophy, which is essentially straight out of F1, because I think it’s the best of both worlds and helps balance the negatives of each… ahem… “pole” of the continuum, if you will.
