Aight, not to toot my own horn here, but have you ever wondered how those job boards work that we’re all forced to use these days? Things like Indeed, LinkedIn, Dice (yep, still around), Monster (still around too), and CareerBuilder (maybe a zombie, but still shuffling).
I used to work for one of the lesser-known-outside-the-HR-industry job boards for 5 and a half years, and so as some sort of penance for my participation in accelerating the hellscape that is job searching these days, I wrote a series of essays on how job boards work. Some things you may know, but my guess is that there’s some things that you don’t that make them seem even more anti-job-seeker than they already are.
So, for posterity, I want to archive the link to this here and share it with all y’all to give you some insights into this one particular aspect of our cyberpunk dystopia that we never asked for.
