Auto-focusing eyewear

Not quite chrome, and the field of vision is a bit small, but I love the idea.

Combine that with some kind of HUD functionality

I am totally here for this! I would love to be able to try out a demo pair or something to see how it works. Definite precursors to Kiroshis. As someone who already uses progressive lenses, I’d be really interested to see how it handles a couple of things:

  1. How much interference (if any) those black ocular sensors contribute to the vision. Do they end up essentially like the boundaries of standard frames or is it like looking through binoculars?

  2. How quick is the focus change operation? Based on the simulated video, if the delay is long enough that could take some getting used to.

And, as @sanity pointed out, merging a rapid focus response with some sort of HUD would be nova preem! I’d plunk down $669 for that kind of rig in a heartbeat if it wasn’t too intrusive.

Plus, I think that the aesthetics are pretty cool. Def cyberpunk!
