I might be late to the party here on this, but have y'all heard of the SuperBox? It's supposed to be this plugin appliance that streams all sorts of stuff for free from all over, and apparently you can even get it through places like Best Buy or Amazon or whatever.
A buddy of mine got one of them recently and as I looked into them, I just got a really oogy feeling and warning klaxons in my head were going off. It seems pretty sketchy and turns out that my instincts were correct. I didn't even end up doing any research, but apparently this thing is basically a hardcore network scanner and malicious device that basically is like bringing a hardware-based C&C server into your network for a botnet. Like, the first thing it does is connect to Tencent and it's got all sorts of nasties tucked away inside it.
Check out this interview with D3ada55 on Darknet Diaries, who's now finally able to talk about what she found. If you know anyone who has one of these first warn them and then second go over to their house, round up all the boxes you can find, and smash them with a hammer. And then set them on fire. Probably wouldn't hurt to use any spare thermite you have laying around on these things, either.
